Manchester has become one of the UK’s most desirable places to live.

But, if you're new to the city you might wonder which area is right for you. Below, we explore the neighbourhoods from the centre to the suburbs.

Ancoats

Home to The Halle orchestra, world class restaurants (including a Michelin star) and a scenic marina, Ancoats is steeped in history and having been redeveloped over recent years, now has some beautiful  homes available to buy. Renovated mills and listed buildings that once housed the industrial revolution are now the site of luxury apartments and local independent businesses. A truly exciting place to live.

Deansgate

Deansgate is a location rich in history with some parts of the area dating back as far as the Roman empire. Today, it's the heart of the metropolis and is home to the city's tallest buildings, most luxurious stores and busiest nightlife spots.

Chorlton

Chorlton is a popular suburb just a few miles outside of Manchester City Centre. Known for its quirky streak, there’s a strong culture of book shops, art galleries, nightlife and vegetarian eateries. There's also a number of great schools and outdoor spaces making it perfect for families.

Altrincham

On the outskirts of Trafford, Altrincham is one of Manchester’s most sought-after locations for homebuyers. It's on the expensive end of the scale but there’s a wide variety of properties. Choose from evocative cobbled roads of terraced houses, leafy, Victorian estates or a remarkable 1930’s townhouse. There’s also a number of new developments offering 1 & 2 bedroom flats, meaning there’s something for everybody in this particular suburb.

Media City is a truly special location – next to the waters of the Manchester Ship Canal, Old Trafford Football Ground and the television studios of the BBC and ITV, and if that’s not enough it's just a short trip into Manchester City Centre via Metrolink. Didsbury

One of the city's most vibrant suburbs, Didsbury has everything a homebuyer is looking for. Parks, tasteful properties, and a lively bar and restaurant scene. Across three areas, East Didsbury has excellent schools, West Didsbury is known for fantastic restaraunts and Didsbury Village is home to a lively community and a range of shops. Easily accessible from Manchester City Centre, Didsbury has first-class road and public transport links including buses and Metrolink.

Withington

Withington is becoming increasingly popular offering buyers access to nearby amenities in Didsbury and Chorlton, but at a much more reasonable price. It’s also a short journey into the city centre which means that employment opportunities are plentiful. There’s a great choice of housing in Withington including apartments, semi-detached and detached homes.

Cheadle

Cheadle is slightly outside Manchester in the scenic Cheshire countryside but offers residents an attractive balance thanks to it’s transport connections to the city.
